Howdy all,
This has been one of those weeks that I could definitely have skipped. Close friends with marital problems, other close friend's beloved pets dying very unexpectedly and then today, we had to make that horrid decision that you never want to make, but you have no choice: We had to put our cat Murphy to sleep.
Murphy was one of those cats that was just everyone's favorite cats. I can't really add much more than that. He had the personality that I've never seen in another cat. He was fiercely loyal and very affectionate -actually sometimes a bit too much so: Sometimes he would attack people when they stopped giving him affection.
The first day I met him (over at Jewel's old apartment), he savaged me pretty badly. I was playing with him and didn't expect him to be that frisky. The next thing I knew, I was bleeding. But that was the type of cat he was. He wasn't mean. He didn't attack you because he was angry- he just wanted to play and he played rough.
His chin stuck out like Jay Leno and I called him Tony the Tiger because that is what he reminded me of. Our vet loved him just as much as everyone else. She cried today when she had to put him to sleep. Something you don't see a seasoned vet do.
All I can really say is that Murphy will be missed. If there is a kitty heaven, I'm sure he's purring there right now because he was always such a happy cat... so long...
